Happy Teaching 2

On Tuesday, 8th of September, I started teaching without Miss Ika in the class. I asked her if I could come at 2.30 that day. Since Miss Ika said yes, I came at around 2.35. I went straight to her room inside the teachers room. Many teachers was surprised seeing me there. Especially my 'BELOVED' teacher Mr. Chery. He walked into Miss Ika's room and got me there. He looked like speechless for a while then laughed. So I said, "What sih, Misteeeeer!" and you know what? He said :

"No no. Sorry. I know you can do it, Peh. Miss-to-be. Hahaha.."

Then he laughed again. All I could do was smiling. Nothing else. Haha.

I backed to Miss Ika. She gave some papers that would be the material for the class. It turns out that they would have a test that day. It was such a good fact for me. Because it means I don't have to talk much. Hehe. After a while I learned the material, the light suddenly went out! I was shocked. FYI, I'm afraid of being in the darkness. But I tried to be calm. Embarrassing if Miss Ika knew that I was afraid, rite? So I stayed calm, wishing that the light would be on again soon.

Miss Ika told me that I should have a list of what to do while I was in the class. So she gave me a piece of paper and I tried to list the activities. Here are the things that I wrote :

  1. Games => Stick the paper (R2/B10) to the white board.
  2. Check their homework
  3. Explain 'What are you wearing?' and test

Seemed to be simple, isn't it? But it wasn't at all.

Okay, go on. The light still went out. The only thing that I was afraid of was : while teaching, the light suddenly went out again, then I shocked and ran out of the class. Oh gosh. Really hoped that it wouldn't happen.

Seconds by seconds, minutes by minutes, the light suddenly back! Miss Ika asked me to go to the class. And I did so. Before entering the class, Nong, Tya , and Hendra gave me some support. It meant a lot for me who was very nervous. And I entered the class.

They all seemed surprised seeing me there. But I explained to them that I was going to teach them that day immediately. Fortunately, they didn't mind. So I started the class with the game. Here is the rule : you have to circle two correct answers. Their material was still countable and uncountable nouns.

And so we played the games. The first 5 minutes, it ran well, without any problems. Until I heard one of them said : "Oooh. I don't like this game!"

Beuuh. I tried to be patient. Tried not to disturb me with such a thing. But it was hard, though. When we finished playing the game, I gave them the papers. Apparently, not all of them got the paper. So I had to go downstairs to the teachers room to get more papers for them. After that, I got back to the class. After they all finished doing the paper, I checked it.

Then, I did the second list of activities. Check their homework. Unfortunately, only some of them had done the homework. Most of them didn't come the meeting before. So the hadn't got the paper yet. And the rest hadn't done the homework. At first I was confused of what to do. But then I told them that I would give them the paper at the end of the class.

So, I did the third list of activities. But, Miss Ika said that I didn't have to explain all of the materials. Just explain the example written in the paper test. Then, I gave them the paper test. I explained the example just like what Miss Ika told me to do. And to make sure, I asked them if there were any questions. Luckily, there weren't. So I let them did the test. All that I did was just watching them. They didn't cheat, though. They all fell silent, serious to their own tests. I also said that they could go home as soon as they finished the test. But, they shouldn't get hurry. They had to check and make sure that their answers were correct.

After around 25 minutes, finally they finished doing the test. They gave me the paper test and shook my hand again! It makes me happy. Don't clear why. Haha. After they all collected their papers, I went to the teachers room to give the paper tests to Miss Ika. And in the teachers room, Miss Ika asked me to meet Mr. Dani, the one that I substituted to teach. So I met him. Apparently, he couldn't teach on Tuesday because he had to go to the college that day. But on Thursday, he was free.

Well, my comment for the first class without Miss Ika is :

It was tiring, but was fun though. I got very good experience.

I really hope that I'm gonna be a much better teacher on the next meeting. I wanna make them happy to be taught by me. But I haven't got the chance to make it. So guys, wish me luck, yaaa !
